Frequently Asked Questions
What are the lash extensions made from?
Our eyelash extensions are made from synthetic, silk and mink, are all vegan friendly, so depends on which lashes you choose. They are soft and lush fibers with a beautiful finish no matter which type you choose. Lash Angels lashes come in 4 different curls, 10 different lengths, 4 different thicknesses and 10 different colours, giving me many options when tailoring a look to suit your requirements.
How long do they last?
Eyelash extensions last through the length of your natural growth cycle of each lash, which is between 60-90 days. However as many of your natural lashes aren’t at the beginning of their growth cycle, touch up’s are recommended every 4-5 weeks to replace lashes which have fallen off due to the life cycle of natural lashes.
Extensions are not permanent. It is a semi-permanent procedure as we lose approximately 2-3 natural lashes per eye per day!
How do I prepare for the service?
You should cleanse your lashes with a mild cleanser. Do not use oily makeup remover to clean your lashes prior to the application.
Lashes should not be curled or lifted/permed and all mascara must be removed.
The treatment itself is pain-free and so relaxing that many clients fall asleep.
Are lash extensions safe?
Lash Angels use first class quality extensions and only use pharmaceutical grade adhesive which is completely odourless.
Neither the lash nor the glue ever comes in contact with your skin as extensions are glued about 1mm away from your eye line.
How do they feel when wearing them?
The should feel natural like you have nothing on. They are very light and comfortable.
How long does it take to apply a full set of lash extensions?
1.5 to 2 hours depending on which set you would like applied.
How many lashes make a full set?
This is a great question!! Each person is different and it varies on how many natural lashes you actually have for me to use. I do my best to fill them as much as possible and I don't count. This is my bespoke technique that is catered to each individual, and is why they always look flawless!
Can I use eye makeup remover?
I recommend oil free cleansers and eye make up removers. Do not use micellar water or pre-moistened make up remover wipes.
Eyelash extensions are easy to maintain. Just avoid excessive rubbing. Also avoid oil based cleansers, lotion or make-up remover. Gel cleansers are recommended. Use a soft, clean eye shadow brush with your cleanser to remove eye shadow and eyeliner around the eye.
Can I wear makeup when having my eyelashes applied?
No, I would prefer you remove your make up prior to arriving to your appointment. By make up I mean mascara. If you are coming from work I do have oil free make up removers that you can use. However each set gets a deep cleanse so we can remove the make up before applying the lashes.
Do I need to wear mascara after eyelash extensions?
The great thing about Lash Angels lash extensions is that you don’t need mascara anymore! However… I don't mind clients using a water based mascara, which is specially formulated for eyelash extensions and can be used on the tips of the eyelash extensions for extra volume or between maintenance appointments to disguise small gaps where lashes have fallen away. Water-proof mascara is definitely not recommended.
What maintenance is required?
At your appointment you will be given after care instructions, a lash brush and a cleanser. I will teach you how to make this yourself at home and how to look after them. Our exclusive Client VIP area on this website will give you instructional videos that can assist you with maintenance.
How long does it take to get refills?
About 1 to 1.5 hours depending on how many lashes we need to apply. The longer you go between refills the more lashes that will need to be applied. To avoid paying for a full set don't wait until all your lashes have dropped out and try to get in within 4-5 weeks for your refill.
When can I not have eyelash extensions applied?
If you have conjunctivitis, pink eye, any eye irritations or infections. If you feel that you may have an allergy to any of the adhesives or products I can do a test patch a few days prior to your appointment.
How do I remove my eyelash extensions?
There are two ways :
1. Come in and let me professionally remove them. Please do not attempt to remove them yourself by pulling on them as the adhesives we use are very strong and you are likely to pull out your natural lash with your extension. This will cause lash damage.
2. Let the eyelash extensions fall out themselves. This can take between 2-3 months and this process can be sped up by using baby oil or oil based cleansers.
Can I bring my child/children to the appointment?
To enable you to receive the best possible lashes and to comply with safety requirements children are unable to attend your appointment as they will be unsupervised for anywhere between 60-90 mins. As your eyes will be shut for this entire time and you are unable to open them during the treatment you will not be able to open your eyes to assist or check on them. Our insurance will not cover any injuries or accidents if a child is present as we do use very sharp tools to perform our art. Even though the lash studio is run from commercial studios I do pride myself in maintaining a professional and safe salon experience in a professional environment. As much as we love our little ones, in this instance it is best to find alternative care whilst you are at your appointment.
Searching for a new Lash Tech? Here are some questions to ask, or research to do:
Where has the technician completed training? Check the organisation which they have trained from.
Does the technician hold insurance for public liability and medical malpractice? You will be surprised to know that almost 80% of lash technicians working from home or in a salon don't actually bother with insurance!!
Reviews!!! Does the place have any reviews on google or facebook? No reviews?? I wonder why??
When you get there check the hygene of the salon.
Does your tech wash her hands and tools prior to starting services on you?
Do you get to keep your mascara wand after each appointment? These things are a tiny expense but you will be surprised at how many techs recycle!! Eeeeek!
